Tortuguero Costa Rica: We will begin our adventure in Costa Rica with a side trip to Tortuguero. This is a wonderful Caribbean coastal area known worldwide for its marine turtle nesting sites. Students will stay in cabins on stilts right in the heart of the lowland forest. they will fall asleep to the sounds of forest frogs, and birds and in the morning wake to the calls of Howler Monkeys overhead. Students will visit the beach at night to search for nesting sea turtles. They will also visit the town of Tortuguero going to the local turtle museum, and doing some souvenir shopping. Students will hike up Tortuguero Mountain – an extinct volcano to get an incredible view of the entire area. Finally, students will venture into the trees zip-lining through the forest; getting a monkeys-eye-view of the forest.

 

San Jose and surrounds…

At the end of the course we will travel to the capital San Jose. On the way we will stop at the Braulio Carrillo National Park for a cloud forest hike, and picnic. In San Jose we will stay at the Hotel Don Carlos and have a final dinner out at Tin Jo Restaurant. In addition, we will visit the National Museum.
